It is always interesting listening to people who do not want to have a drug or alcohol problem.
Even though they fit the standard definition of continuing to do the same thing in spite of negative consequences people often are really resistant to looking for help and even more resistant to going into a program to try and solve the problem.
This thinking is frequently a combination of thinking that they do not “fit” their belief about what someone with a substance problem should “look” like or they simply feel they are not bad enough.
I have had many kids say they are embarrassed to be going into a program because they are “just” smoking weed.
Bad thinking creates bad or no solutions.
